Imagine a life free of back or neck pain – one where you can enjoy all of the activities you enjoyed before you had pain.

According to patient Sindy Fuller, this is exactly what she experienced after undergoing back surgery performed by Dr. Jay Jagannathan. “I’m 61 years old and feel better than I have in many years. I’ve resumed all the activities I used to do,” says Fuller, who works out regularly and has even ridden on zip lines without pain or discomfort since having her surgery with Dr. Jagannathan. Another patient, Glenn Rocheleau, suffered from lower back pain and had radiating numbness down through his right leg. After undergoing surgery with Dr. Jagannathan, he no longer needed pain medication and was able to return to work as a pilot. “This surgery was a lifesaver for me. It got me back everything I’d lost,” he says. “The mobility I have regained from (no longer suffering from) all the pain is incredible.”

Dr. Jagannathan is a Board-certified neurosurgeon with subspecialty interests in complex spine and minimally invasive techniques that often result in quicker recovery and less postoperative discomfort. He’s one of only a few surgeons in Michigan who specializes in minimally invasive neurosurgery. As the president of a busy neuroscience group that provides clinical services throughout Michigan, Dr. Jagannathan’s practice emphasizes a multidisciplinary approach involving specialists in neurology, pain management and neurosurgery. With offices throughout Michigan, including two state-of-the-art, fully- equipped pain management suites (one in metro Detroit and another in northern Michigan), Dr. Jagannathan and his staff are always available for convenient consultations and treatments.

Dr. Jagannathan was recently featured as being among the “top doctors in America” in Delta Sky Magazine, and was named a “spine surgeon to know” by Beckers Spine Review. He has also been featured in Hour Detroit magazine’s “Top Docs” issue and has received the Patients’ Choice Award and Compassionate Doctor Recognition from vitals.com the past three years. In 2016 he was rated the Top Neurosurgeon in Metro Detroit by RateMDs.com. Dr. Jagannathan is a Diplomate of the American Board of Neurological Surgery, the American Academy of Neurological and Orthopedic Surgery, and the American Board of Spinal Surgery. He is a fellow of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and has published more than 40 articles and given numerous presentations in scientific meetings, both nationally and internationally. He is the recipient of the Synthes Award for Craniofacial Research and the Cone-Pevehouse Award for Socioeconomic Research from the American Association of Neurological Surgeons. Dr. Jagannathan is considered an authority in neurosurgery and a leader in the medical community, and has held elected and appointed positions with the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, The Joint Section on Tumors and the Council of State Neurosurgical Societies. He is dedicated to helping his patients receive the absolute best in health care.
