    Dr. Lucia Zamorano, Director of Michigan Brain and Spine Surgery Center, is one of the national leaders and pioneer in Minimally Invasive Neurosurgery. She introduced Computer Assisted Surgery, Intraoperative MRI Gammaknife and Radiosurgery in Michigan and she was named as one of the 49 surgeons in the USA performing robotic spine surgery. She was also the first surgeon in the USA to perform a robotic brain surgery. Her life has been dedicated to advancing technology and her years of clinical research have resulted in countless implementations rendering her international recognition. She has contributed significantly to the development of Image Guided Surgery, Intraoperative Image Guidance (navigation) systems, Minimally Invasive Surgery, Brachytherapy, Radiosurgery, Functional Mapping, Robotics and Laser applications. Dr. Zamorano states, “My practice philosophy involves optimization of surgeries by using less invasive approaches and cutting-edge technologies; the ultimate goal is to improve our patient’s outcome and satisfaction.” She applies the same philosophy into Spine Surgery. Dr Zamorano’s focus is in Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery (MISS) approaches and she has pioneered and implemented Endoscopic Spine Surgery for Decompression and Fusions, Laser surgery for Spinal Stenosis, Robotics, Navigation, Minimally Invasive Microsurgical techniques, Expandable cages, and Standalone cages. “This Minimally Invasive Techniques help us to provide better outcomes for patients suffering spine problems and enable us to help patients that have undergone or failed prior conventional spine surgeries,” states Dr. Zamorano.

    In addition, Dr. Zamorano currently serves as a Clinical Professor of Neurosurgery at Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine.
