Dr. James D. Relle, a board-certified urologist who has been practicing in metro Detroit for over 25 years, continues to forge ahead with innovative, technologically advanced surgical treatments. He is trained in all aspects of urology but has focused special attention on prostate issues ranging from benign disease to prostate cancer.
Technological advancements, particularly in minimally invasive surgery, have provided enormous benefits to patients. Using this procedure, Dr. Relle can precisely treat the cancer with less blood loss, discomfort, hospitalization, and recovery. The robotic procedure also allows Dr. Relle to preserve the nerves surrounding the prostate gland so that the patient’s sexual function is maintained. He has served as principal investigator for TULSA-PRO, a new MRI-guided therapy for prostate treatment. Additionally, Dr. Relle has extensive experience in minimally-invasive stone procedures.
A native of Toronto, Canada, Dr. Relle graduated from Harvard University and received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Queen’s University in Ontario. He completed his residency and fellowship at the University of Toronto. Dr. Relle’s hospital affiliations include William Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak and Troy campuses. Dr. Relle is an assistant professor of urology at Oakland University’s William Beaumont Medical School.
