Aratham Gourmet To Go — a local business that specializes in healthy, organic, plant-based prepared meals — is expanding with a new downtown Detroit store. The location opens on Jan. 24.
“We believe take away, grab-and-go meals should be delicious, interesting, fresh, and healthy,” Gabriel and Tiffanie Vera, the husband-and-wife co-owners of Aratham, say in a press release. “…The opening of the new Aratham Gourmet To Go storefront allows the Detroit community to stop in and purchase a variety of organic, plant-based foods quickly and conveniently, without sacrificing taste or nutrition.”

The new store, located in the Chrysler House building at 719 Griswold St., will carry side dishes, entrees, and desserts. The menu changes weekly, but customers can expect to find popular Aratham items like plant-based crab cakes, “lobster” po boys, soups, salads, fresh juices, and elderberry syrups. The store will also sell natural supplements, candles, soaps, and other personal items.
Gabriel — an award-winning chef with experience at MGM Grand, Joe Vicari Restaurant Group’s Andiamo and Joe Muer, Mission Point on Mackinac Island, and more — and Tiffanie, a naturopath and trained doula who previously worked in the spirits industry, launched Aratham in 2019 as a meal delivery service. After years of success, the duo branched out into brick-and-mortar shops — one in Troy, located at 3381 Rochester Road, and another in Westland at 37628 Ford Road.
The Downtown Detroit Aratham will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
