Mongers’ Provisions — a specialty shop devoted to cut-to-order cheese, craft chocolate, and charcuterie — is debuting a new location in Berkley. The 2,800-square-foot store will open its doors on Friday.

Mongers’ Provisions was started in 2017 by cheese and chocolate experts Zach Berg and Will Werner. The duo currently operates a flagship store in Detroit’s Midtown neighborhood. According to a press release, the new shop, located at 3127 W. 12 Mile Road in Berkley, will offer nearly three times as much space as the Detroit location.

Like the Midtown store, the Berkley shop will carry spices, preserves, and sauces. Guests can expect to find even more domestic and imported cheese, charcuterie, and craft chocolate options. The store will also carry a curated assortment of wine, beer, cider, and non-alcoholic beverages, and new product categories, such as heirloom beans and grains.

“We are so excited to be opening this full-size store in the suburbs,” says Berg, Mongers’ Provisions co-owner and head cheesemonger, in a press release. “Will and I have always envisioned this company with one foot in the city and one in the suburbs. As always, we want to be a resource to the surrounding community, so stop by and let us know what you are hoping to find at the store.”

The Berkley location will start serving specialty grilled cheese sandwiches for carryout in 2022. Mongers Provision will also host virtual and in-person events at the store.

The shop will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday through Saturday. Free parking is available in the back of the business.
