Some might consider it “basic,” but it sure is delicious. Pumpkin spice is all the rage this time of year, joining the ranks of seasonal classics like apple cinnamon and salted caramel.

While Starbucks is, and has been for 20 years, the go-to to nab this fall flavor, they aren’t the only spot that has embraced it. From beer to pastries and the beloved latte, here are eight metro Detroit businesses serving or selling pumpkin spice in unique and scrumptious ways.

Apple Fritter Donut Shop

Are you team apple or team pumpkin? It doesn’t matter at Ferndale’s Apple Fritter Donut Shop because they’re serving both apple cider and pumpkin spice doughnuts this fall; instagram.com.
