Dominican Literacy Center Presents 5th Annual Spelling Bee Fundraiser

The Dominican Literacy Center in Detroit presents the the 5th Annual Spelling Bee Fundraiser at 6 p.m. on Thursday, September 28 at the Jam Handy, 2900 Grand Blvd., Detroit. Co-hosted by the executive director of ARISE Detroit!, Luther Keith, and the host of Michigan Radio’s All Things Considered, Rebecca Kruth, this fierce competition features some of the best adult spellers in the area and also serves as a key fundraising activity for the Center.

Guests will enjoy entertainment by Moth Storyteller Dame Wilburn, as well as Mediterranean food, wine and more.

All funds raised will provide financial resources for the Center in support of basic needs such as books, teaching materials, technology, community outreach, and staff.

Event sponsors include by First Nation, Stellantis, Comerica Bank, ProofreadNOW.com, and the Better Health Market and Cafe. The event raises tens of thousands of dollars to help improve Detroit’s literacy rate.
