HAVEN of Oakland County Hosting “Hope in Every Step” Event to Raise Awareness of Sexual Assault

Rochester, MI—HAVEN of Oakland County invites the community to attend Hope in Every Step, an event dedicated to raising awareness of sexual assault and fostering a united movement for change. The event will take place on April 4 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Chief Financial Credit Union, 20 S. Main Street, Rochester, MI 48307.

Open to all, Hope in Every Step provides an opportunity for community members, advocates, and survivors to come together in solidarity, reinforcing the message that “Together We Act, United We Change.” The event will include resources, educational opportunities, and support for survivors, highlighting the ongoing efforts to prevent sexual violence and support those affected.

“Sexual violence affects individuals, families, and entire communities,” said Christine Kinal, CEO of HAVEN. “Hope in Every Step is more than an event—it’s a movement. By coming together, we raise awareness, show support for survivors, and take meaningful action to end sexual violence. We encourage everyone to join us in making a difference.”

Registration is required, but individual attendance is free, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to participate in this important event. Advocacy sign-making, entertainment by DJ Angelo, light refreshments, and awareness activities
5:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. – Call to Action
Survivor Speaker – Karah Ruczynski
6 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. – Hope In Every Step March through downtown Rochester
6:45 p.m. to 7 p.m. – Candlelight Vigil
