SUMMARY:Little Black Dress Brunch
DESCRIPTION:Founded in 2014 by the Junior League of London\, the Little Black Dress Initiative (LBDI) is a week-long awareness and fundraising campaign that harnesses the power of social media to illustrate the restrictions poverty places on choices\, opportunities\, and access to resources. Advocates wear one black dress (or outfit) for five consecutive days\, in an effort to spark conversations and awareness about poverty and related issues. We encourage everyone to wear a black dress to the event in solidarity of the initiative.The Junior League of Birmingham\, MI\, services all of Oakland County and is an organization dedicated to empowering women to be civic leaders through an effective training program. Since 1952\, we have donated over $5 million and over one million volunteer hours to the community. We have been critical actors in establishing well-known local nonprofits\, such as CARE House\, Common Ground\, and Lifehouse PATH\, to name a few.
