These days, you can get just about any movie you want to watch streamed directly into your living room, but there’s still something magical about taking in a flick at the local theater — especially if that theater is a drive-in.

Though the popularity of the drive-in faded in the ‘90s, there are still a few of these cinematic gems across the state — including one right here in metro Detroit. So, what are you waiting for? Pack a snack, pick a movie, and grab a spot at these 10 Michigan drive-in theaters.

Hi-Way Drive-In

Ford-Wyoming Drive-In

Open all year round with five separate screens, Ford Wyoming Drive-In is an easy pick for metro Detroiters. Movie schedules are uploaded on Tuesdays, and online tickets are available weekly. Getty Drive-In

Head out to the west side of the state for your next drive-in movie night. Getty Drive-in has been a crowd favorite since 1944, with its concessions, four screens, and affordable ticket prices. Adults pay $12; military, seniors, and college students pay $8; and kids are $7.50. Gates open at 8 p.m., movies begin at dusk. U.S. 23 Drive-In Theatre

Founded over 70 years ago, U.S. 23 Drive-in Theatre has offered comfortable drive-in experiences for decades. Make any night movie night at Capri Drive-In. Enjoy daily showings until the end of summer. They have closed for the 2023 season. Sunset Drive-In Movie Theater

Open every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in the summer (and sometimes on Thursdays for special new releases), Sunset Drive-In is a perfect weekend destination. Listen to the movie on 91.1 FM or a loaner radio, and enjoy the playground and concession stand before the sun sets. Gates open at 7 p.m., and movies begin at dark. 5 Mile Drive-In

The sister theater of Sunset Drive-In, 5 Mile is open Memorial Day through Labor Day and can accommodate 500 cars! Memory Lane Drive-In Theater

With two screens, concessions, and special events, this theater has a mission of “creating memories that last a lifetime.” Memory Lane Drive-In was opened by Todd Williams, an ‘80s kid who wanted to recreate the nostalgia and memories he felt going to drive-in movies when he was younger …and so Memory Lane opened in 2021! Summer Drive-In

Take a trip to USA Hockey Arena this summer for a fun movie night. The arena doubles as a drive-in space during the summer months with three screens to choose from. Head up to the top of the state for a weekend trips and some cozy summer movie nights through Labor Day (they have closed for the 2023 season).
