The “premier assisted stretching franchise,” StretchLab, has announced that it will open a new studio in West Bloomfield.

The studio, which is already open for business but is having a Grand Opening Feb. 9-11, joins the company’s other southeast Michigan location in Grosse Pointe Woods, and works to teach people of all ages and fitness levels about the benefits of assisted stretching — a practice during which a trained professional stretches your body for you.

“Assisted stretching is a modality that speaks to and can be utilized by all kinds of people, and I’m glad to help it reach the community where I live, work, and play,” Shawn Byrnes, the owner of the new location said in a press release.

Instructors at StretchLab are called “Flexologists” and hold a “nationally recognized certificate” in assisted stretching accredited by the Institute for Credentialing Excellence.

At the studios, Flexologists offer a variety of personalized one-on-one stretching services including concentrations on what the client needs and head-to-toe deep stretches on major muscle groups.

The West Bloomfield location will also offer a TRX MAPS machine, which uses 3-D technology to assess the body and identify movement issues in four areas: mobility, activation, posture, and symmetry.

Drop-in stretches are available as are monthly membership, which allow for four or eight visits per month.

StretchLab West Bloomfield will have its Grand Opening at 6893 Orchard Lake Road, West Bloomfield, Feb. 9-11, 2023. More StretchLab locations are expected to open in Troy, Shelby Township, and Clarkston soon. Opening dates for those locations have yet to be released.
