Buddy’s Pizza will be opening its newest carry-out location on Feb. 26 on Ford Road in Canton. With this addition, the originator of Detroit-style pizza will be operating 23 locations, including six other carry-out restaurants and 16 full-service restaurants.

In just a few days, Canton customers can enjoy Buddy’s favorites including “Super 6 Mile,” with Wisconsin brick cheese, pepperoni, onions, green peppers, mushrooms, and ham; or “The Henry Ford,” with a Motor City cheese blend, red onions, seasoned ground beef, bacon, bleu cheese, and tomato basil sauce. Not to mention classics like Antipasto salad, Buddy Bread, minestrone soup, and more to-go.

To celebrate the opening of their newest location, Buddy’s Pizza will donate 100 percent of its opening day sales to the Plymouth-Canton Educational Foundation, a community-based non-profit that supports students and teachers in every grade and district throughout the Plymouth-Canton area. Classroom grants, district programs, scholarship opportunities, and intervention funds are made possible by fundraisers like these.

In addition to the donations, Buddy’s Pizza will also randomly select five Canton customers to win free Buddy’s Pizza for an entire year. Winners will be chosen on each day of opening week, Feb. 26-March 1.

A private ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. on Feb. 26. Immediately following the ceremony, doors will open, and orders can be placed.

Buddy’s Pizza opened its first location in 1946 on the corner of Six Mile and Conant, and became the birthplace of the original Detroit-style pizza made in forged-steel pans borrowed from local automotive plants, according to their website. Detroit-style pizza is now recognizable for its square shape and crunchy corner slices.
