Main Street, the steak offerings include Wagyu, Prime filets, and sharable 28-ounce steaks like the Allen Brothers 30-Day Dry-Aged Porterhouse and a Piedmontese tomahawk. Parlay Detroit in Downtown Detroit
A sports bar co-owned by former Detroit Lions running back Joique Bell opened last Friday in downtown Detroit at 1260 Washington Blvd. It occupies the former site of the stock market-themed Detroit Beer Exchange, which closed early this year. Parlay Detroit is helmed by chef Russell Oliver, and the menu is curated by
chef Nikki Steward, whose impressive resume includes cheffing for DJ Khaled, Snoop Dogg, and Dave Chappelle, according to her website. Apart from burgers, sandwiches and wings, noteworthy menu items include Buffalo Chicken Wontons, and a Grilled Whole Jerk Snapper with Garlic Sweet Chili Sauce. The bar also includes a members-only lounge, and a cigar humidor stocked with whiskeys and premium liquors. It also plans to open a basement speakeasy called Hidden early next year.
Antica Nova in Troy
A new Italian restaurant opened last month behind the San Marino Club — a banquet hall at 1695 E. Big Beaver Rd. in Troy. Helmed by Chef Anthony Giannola and run in partnership with the San Marino Club, the new eatery serves a
smattering of traditional Italian pastas like Spaghetti Allo Scoglio (spaghetti with mixed seafood); Tagiatelle Bolognese prepared with veal and beef ragu; and gnocchetti, available with several house-made sauces. The menu also features Timballo Alla Parmigiana, piccata, marsala, slow-cooked risotto dishes, and several vegan offerings. The bar, separated from the dining area by a wall of wine bottles; runs happy hour between 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and all day on Sunday — which includes drink specials and unique offerings like Lamb Sliders and The Ultimate Antica Burger, topped with fried egg and pancetta.
Soraya in Downtown Detroit
After the sudden closings of two notable restaurants in Detroit — downtown’s Maru Sushi a couple months ago and Corktown’s Korean American restaurant Black Ginger last month — the team behind Black Ginger opened a new restaurant called Soraya in the space formerly occupied by Maru, the Detroit Free Press reported. Located in the Federal Reserve Building, Soraya had a soft opening last Friday. It offers sushi and other Japanese eats — but diners can expect the return of some Black Ginger dishes such as its Tempura Broccolini, owner Harold Kim told the Freep.
Que Pasa Taqueria in Royal Oak

Miss Eva’s in Detroit
A speakeasy-style bar plans to open in Detroit’s North Rosedale Park neighborhood at 19566 Grand River Ave. Inspired by the neighborhood bars and listening rooms that were once prevalent in Detroit throughout the 20th century, the bar plans to be “a celebration of music and culture” — with jazz, neo soul, and R&B performances; and
cocktails inspired by African diaspora and Black culture. Owner Jay Williams, who grew up in the neighborhood, named the restaurant after his late grandmother Eva Marie Franklin. “Traditionally, in Detroit, you’d have a bar within walking distance of your home,” said Miss Eva’s music director Mike Monford in a press release. “You could go to the corner and check out jazz musicians like Donald Byrd or another big Detroit name on any given night. Jay is bringing this back.” The bar plans to host concerts and events throughout November and December, but its grand opening is slated for spring 2025.
