Faith Brody

Faith Brody has lived in metro Detroit all of her life, and has been passionate about storytelling for just as long. An Oakland University journalism student who enjoys reading, theater, traveling, and spending time with her family, friends, and multitudes of pets, Brody is thrilled to be telling stories for a living. Starting her career as an editorial intern for Hour Detroit is a dream come true and she hopes to use this opportunity to become an editor and explore the many communities and opportunities within Detroit.

James Yamasaki

James Yamasaki enjoys creating conceptual, detailed, and wonderfully imaginative illustrations with energy and impact for viewers of all ages. From editorial, advertising, and publishing, to books for children, amazingly complex picture puzzles, and products for kids, he brings a lighthearted offbeat touch — or the dark, intense, spooky side of the world. He likes both, just to stay in balance! He studied at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, Calif., and teaches illustration at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. He lives in northern California with his wife and daughter. Check out his work for the story on Roaring Dan Seavey.

Jennifer McDonell

Jennifer McDonell might seem like every other journalism student in Detroit: a young reporter who wants to Vice-style change the world. But before she uncovers any massive conspiracy theories, she just wants to show the important stuff, like which bars have the best soft pretzels in the city. In between her semesters as a student at Albion College, she has written for DBusiness magazine and Benzinga.com. She hopes to hone her gonzo journalism skills as an intern for Hour Detroit and the Metro Times this semester.

EE Berger

The cocktails feature for the November issue of Hour Detroit was EE Berger’s first shoot back after taking nearly a month off, and it was the perfect way to slide back into work. As someone who’s not very politically inclined, craft cocktails were a way to explore the subject. Berger anticipates needing one (or two) of those drinks come election night. The cocktails that involved action like flames and breaking ice were her favorite to photograph, and shooting in Grey Ghost was a dream. In addition to shooting for Hour, Berger works with American Spoon, Pure Michigan, The Henry Ford, and Shinola. When she’s not photographing or editing, she can be found spending too much money on dog treats and toys for her newly adopted mutt, Lilly, with her husband, Chris.
