Who’s Next?

I remember peeking out that same curtain Tom Weschler was peeking out of (“The Way It Was” about The Who at Southfield High, September 2015). I was with the bass player for the Unrelated Segments, and we were living a dream! Few people knew this, but back stage, the lighter of The Who’s manager went out and he was panicking about getting the smoke bombs to go off. Our drummer was the only smoker back there, and he gave his cigarette lighter to the manager. The smoke bombs go off  … and all hell breaks loose. Thanks for bringing back a great memory! — Barry VanEngelen via Facebook

Mmm, Doughnuts

This place is great! (“Daring Doughnuts,” September 2015) The Strawberry/Chantilly Cream is a favorite. After the varied sampling, we declare them all great. — Deb DeRosa via Facebook

Touching Memorials

I am one of the ministers who has had the honor of officiating the memorial mentioned in the article (“Life in the Cadaver Lab,” October 2015). Barbara (Rosso-Norgan) and Mark Ireland are amazing people. I am blessed to know them and to contribute in my own small way to this program. — Michael F. Copado via Facebook

On Death and Dying

Great information on a touchy subject! (“Having ‘The Conversation,’ ” October 2015). There is also a great discussion group starting in Livonia called Death, Dying & Dessert to explore exactly these topics. — Barbara Hendrickson via Facebook

Dissing the Bus?

Who in the heck believes it’s degrading to ride a bus? (“The Bus Stops Here,” October 2015) Perhaps the one who believes putting a book in front of someone who can’t read will teach them to read. — Dani Taylor via Facebook

Customer Conscious

I worked at the Ritz with Elliott Broom (“Smooth Operator,” October 2015). What they instill about customer service stays with you always. The DIA has a great guy. — Christina Ladnier via Facebook

Correction

In our 2015 Top Docs list (October 2015), Dr. Carlos Villafane, M.D., and Dr. Samuel P. Samson, M.D., were inadvertently left off the list among the winners voted by their peers in the “Breast Surgery” category. They were also correctly listed under “Hand Surgery.”
