Hipple’s Hope
Your story about Eric Hipple’s crusade to educate the public about depression (“Eric Hipple’s Hopeful Goal,” November 2007) inspired me to get Eric to speak to Grosse Pointe parents and students in the Grosse Pointe South High School auditorium (in February). I think everyone who attended came away a better person. Thank you, Hour Detroit, for a story that inspired me to make a difference.

Buy Michigan
I applaud your January article promoting Michigan-based food products. I believe wholeheartedly in this statement from Select Michigan: “If we all spent $10 a week on Michigan products, we could put $37 million every week back into the state’s economy.”I dream of one day being in a future article showcasing [my gourmet spice business].

Forgettable Forest
I was baffled by your choice of Forest Grill for 2009 Restaurant of the Year. This is not a first-class restaurant and didn’t deserve your award. We had two very forgettable experiences at Forest Grill.

Library Laurels
I would like to let you know how much I enjoy your magazine. I work for a library and have had to look up past articles for some of our patrons. The Web site [hourdetroit.com] is very user-friendly, and our patrons really enjoy the variety of topics you cover.

More Info
It’s great to do a story on [districts] that offer [foreign language] programs (“Speak Easy,” March 2009), but your article could have been more complete by helping out those parents whose districts don’t by providing information on outside programs.
