// MISSION

The mission of Horizons-Upward Bound (HUB) at Cranbrook Schools is to prepare students with limited opportunities from the Detroit metropolitan area to enter and succeed in postsecondary education.

// KEY SERVICES PROVIDED

HUB impacts the lives of low-income students in the areas of reading intervention, character development, health and wellness, and college access. HUB provides the MISTER/SISTER reading program and Lexia, a comprehensive online reading assessment tool that identifies focus areas for student reading support services. Support from donors allows HUB to provide an annual Student Leadership conference and Leaders Who Care program where students develop leadership skills and are exposed to professional members of the community. HUB students participate in bowling, tennis, track, and the Ben Snyder Memorial 5K. We expose students to college through the annual college tour and college fair. During their time in the program, HUB students receive up to 2,500 hours of academic intervention — equivalent to an extra year of high school.
