Give Detroit – A Charitable Registry
The Fragile X Association of Michigan (FXAM) strives to unite Michigan’s Fragile X community, enriching lives through educational and emotional support, promoting awareness, and advancing research toward improved treatments and finding a cure for Fragile X-associated disorders.
// KEY SERVICES PROVIDED
Fragile X syndrome (FXS) is the most common cause of inherited intellectual disability and the most common known genetic cause of autism. FXAM hosts numerous opportunities for members to connect with other families affected by FXS and its associated disorders. Programs and activities include monthly support meetings; biannual guest speakers with free child care for attendees; scholarships to attend Fragile X Advocacy Day in Washington, D.C.; scholarships to attend the biennial NFXF International Conference; and more. FXAM mails a quarterly newsletter to families to help those near and far stay connected and know they aren’t alone on their Fragile X journey. FXAM is 100 percent volunteer run and 100 percent of its profits support the Fragile X community, including a clinic at the University of Michigan.
