A new shelter for homeless cats and dogs to be built in Detroit.
The 30,000-square-foot facility will be a shelter, animal control headquarters, and a veterinary clinic. Construction will begin in January, and the facility is slated to open before the end of 2023.
Michigan will begin testing wastewater for polio.
On Nov. 30, the CDC announced it will begin testing samples for polio in Michigan and Pennsylvania as part of an effort to target parts of the country with low poliovirus vaccination rates. A spokesperson from the state health department says testing will begin in a few weeks and will likely include sewer samples from Oakland County.

State Senate votes to hold Michigan’s 2024 presidential election primary earlier.
