Hour Detroit caught up with Michigan Supreme Court Justice Kyra Harris Bolden to discuss her first year in office. Formerly a state representative, Bolden is the first Black woman justice on Michigan’s Supreme Court.
Oxford High School Shooter’s Father Convicted on Four Counts of Involuntarily Manslaughter
James Crumbley was convicted Thursday on four counts of involuntary manslaughter. Prosecutors say his negligence enabled his son to commit the 2021 Oxford School Shooting. He and the shooter’s mother (who was convicted on the same four counts in February) await sentencing their on April 9, which would carry a minimum of 10 years in prison for each parent.
New Corktown Taphouse Set to Open This Year
Corktown Taphouse is the third retailer coming to Perennial Corktown apartments in Detroit, and it’s currently slated to open late this summer. It will include 70 self-serve taps for guests to fill their glasses with beer, wine, or seltzer; plus cocktails and food.
Object Lesson: The Tiger Stadium Site
The Detroit Tigers’ previous home was where the team played nearly 7,000 regular season games, three All-Star Games, and was the site of two out of four World Series wins, before their final home game there in 1999. Today, it houses The Corner Ballpark, featuring the Willie Horton Field of Dreams.
