It took being laid off from her auto-industry job for Oneita Porter to make use of her B.F.A. in sculpture by starting a new career in jewelry design. Porter’s contemporary collection, which ranges from pebble-inspired necklaces to linear earrings, is handmade at her studio in Detroit’s Russell Industrial Center.
