The latest collection from Dearborn-based apparel brand Carhartt’s collaboration with Hurley, a surfing clothing company headquartered in California, has recently dropped. With a focus on bridging the gap between Carharrt’s durable workwear and Hurley’s water-focused fashion, the limited-edition line features summer pieces for men and women that brand representatives say are both functional and versatile.

“This collaboration is a true partnership between two iconic brands committed to making products that help people pursue their love for working and playing in and around the water,” says Tony Ambroza, chief brand officer at Carhartt. “Hurley is driven by its founder’s vision to create cutting-edge gear that powers peoples’ passions. In the same way, Carhartt remains committed to developing rugged gear to serve and protect hardworking individuals.”

The line is available to shop on both Carhartt and Hurley’s websites. Women’s clothing includes a long-sleeve top, jacket, and multi-pocket overalls. The latter, made from water-repellent fabric, comes in black or khaki. Meanwhile, men’s offerings include T-shirts and various styles of board shorts made from Hurley’s Phantom fabric. The patented material is lightweight, flexible, and water-repellent, and it has been used by Nike Olympic swimmers.

The summer collection also contains unisex pieces like a long-sleeve T-shirt and fleece hoodie that display the brand names across each arm, a baseball cap, and a beanie. Every piece features a logo that combines Carhartt and Hurley’s individual logos.

The new drop is the second collection from Carharrt and Hurley. The first, launched in February, focused on spring items. The brands plan to release two more seasonal collections that intersect workwear and surf wear before the end of the year.
