Lush greenery and abundant florals will blossom at the Detroit Institute of Arts this month, for Fash Bash, an annual fashion spectacular. Presented by the Founders Junior Council, in collaboration with Neiman Marcus, the event will feature  the highly anticipated Neiman Marcus Art of Fashion Runway Show.

This year’s affair will emanate the whimsical feel of a contemporary garden party — a theme that will carry into the night’s refreshments, with botanically inspired cocktails and sophisticated hors-d’oeuvres, according to Founders Junior Council President Maggie Durant.

Soft décor will yield a stark contrast to the bright colors and bold shapes of last year’s ’80s theme. However, the decade’s influence will surely appear on the runway this season, says Renee Janovsky, general manager of Neiman Marcus Troy.

Still, more subdued elements will balance that flamboyance. “It will be a mix of classic color palettes such as camel and winter white, new proportions, and menswear with a feminine flair,” Janovsky says. All proceeds will benefit the museum.
