The Peacock Room owner Rachel Lutz announced today that she is opening a new flagship location on the ground floor of the Fisher Building in October. The women’s clothing store will still continue to operate inside its original Park Shelton location, opened in 2011.

This will be the fourth Detroit space for Lutz, who is also opening another shop named Yama just steps away. Lutz says she chose the Fisher Building for her new ventures not only for the gorgeous architecture, but to help bring foot traffic out of Midtown and into the surrounding neighborhoods.

“Our windows and entrance on Second Avenue will help to showcase Detroit’s retail vitality to the people attending activities in New Center Park, the Fisher Theater or working in nearby offices,” says Lutz.

The space will require a full restoration, although much of the original architecture still remains. Together, the four spaces total nearly 7,000 square feet. The new Peacock Room location will be nearly three times the size of its current space inside the Park Shelton, says Lutz.

The new shop will also feature a small bridal boutique for, “the non-traditional bride who is looking for a vintage-inspired look.”

Yama, on the other hand, will feature modern, architecturally-inspired looks, and is slated to open in September.
