On Thursday, June 19th, Hour Detroit attended an exclusive preview of Detroit—Bruce Weber, a photography exhibition at the Detroit Institute of Arts presented by the DIA and Conde Nast, which will run through September 7th. The exhibit features photos of the people, places, and sights of Detroit from two separate trips Weber took to the Motor City. One was in 2006 for a W magazine fashion spread with Kate Moss; the most recent a shoot in 2013 for Shinola’s ad campaign.

The exhibition includes a selection of photographs shot on film throughout the city, along with a short film about the city created by Weber. Photographs include a wide assortment of portraits, including intimate black-and-white shots of rockers Patti Smith and Iggy Pop.

Special guests at last Thursday’s exclusive preview included Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief of American Vogue magazine, Eva Chen, editor-in-chief of Lucky magazine, Ken Downing, fashion director and senior vice president of Neiman Marcus, editors and publishers from Condé Nast brands, and other much-adored names in the fashion world. Following the preview, Weber and guests attended the DIA’s annual 100 Women for the Arts luncheon. Later in the evening, guests enjoyed cocktails and a live performance by music legend Patti Smith.
