The Detroit Symphony Orchestra is coming to the Somerset Collection in Troy on July 7 to play songs from iconic films, including Raiders of the Lost Ark and Jurassic Park. The show is called Hooray for Hollywood.

Conducted by Steven Jari, who is the music director of the Dearborn Symphony Orchestra, the 70-piece DSO orchestra will also play songs from films like West Side StoryThe Magnificent Seven, and Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. The show takes place from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Somerset’s North Grand Court. Attendees can view the performance from the front row or the second- or third-story atrium balconies. There is no cost to attend the event, and six audience members will win season tickets to the DSO.

Hooray for Hollywood is the DSO’s second show at Somerset. In 2018, the orchestra visited the shopping center to play the score from Star Wars alongside a light show and massive Lego installation.

“The DSO loves meeting audiences where they are to share in the collective enjoyment of live music,” says Erik Rönmark, president and CEO of the DSO, in a press release, “and we are grateful to our friends at Somerset Collection for the opportunity to once again perform for the community in the spectacular North Grand Court.”
