The Michigan Animal Rescue League (MARL) is inviting animal lovers across southeast Michigan to celebrate the season of giving by sponsoring a Thanksgiving meal for shelter pets.

The rescue, which is based in Pontiac, is currently accepting $25 donations toward giving pet-friendly versions of traditional Thanksgiving dishes including green beans and sweet potatoes, to adoptable cats and dogs spending the holidays in the shelter.

Supporters will be able to watch as MARL’s furry friends scarf down their special treat on the rescue’s Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok on Thanksgiving Day. You can find MARL on all of those platforms, @mi_animalrescueleague.

“We believe every animal deserves to experience the warmth and joy of the holiday season,” Audrey Blaylock, the communications manager at MARL, said in a press release. “Our Thanksgiving Meal program is a heartfelt way to make that happen.”

In addition to providing the meal, these donations will also combine with other contributions that are put toward the over 1,500 animals in MARL’s care.

“Your support not only ensures a special day for our shelter animals, but also contributes to our ongoing mission of saving and improving the lives of these animals in need,” Blaylock added.
