Detroit City Distillery is celebrating the season with the return of its Summer Rum. Available from Memorial Day to Labor Day, the limited-edition spirit is a collaboration between the Eastern Market-based craft distiller and local bartenders from The Skip, Grey Ghost and Second Best, Kiesling, Takoi, and Monarch Club. It features a blend of rums from Jamaica, Trinidad, Barbados, Guyana, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
“Everyone in the bar industry is anticipating the return of The Roaring Twenties and expecting a summer for the ages,” says Michael Forsyth, co-owner of Detroit City Distillery, in a press release. “When we made Summer Rum in collaboration with some of our favorite bartenders, we called it ‘Detroit’s industry love letter to rum.’ This year, that message has new meaning, because we all survived one hell of a year. We hope this rum is the celebratory drink of many and customers will support our hospitality workers like never before.”
To mark this year’s release, Detroit City Distillery is sharing three ways to use Summer Rum at home. Find the recipes below and purchase Summer Rum at Detroit City Distillery’s Tasting Room at 2462 Riopelle St., online at detroitcitydistillery.com for in-person pickup, and at liquor stores.
