Located in the former Local Kitchen + Bar space in Ferndale, The Corner and Detroit Axe will combine three concepts under one roof: food and drink, games, and, of course, axe throwing.
The restaurant and “activity center” is the brainchild of Brian Siegel and Geoff Kretchmer, who collectively own and operate several entertainment-based businesses, including Joe Dumars’ Fieldhouse.
“The Game Room at the Corner is intended to be a hangout,” says Siegel in a release. “We are dedicated to the neighborhood and being a place that feels as comfortable as home.”
Located on the first floor, The Corner Grill will feature a cozy fireplace, dining room, and a 3,000-square-foot bar and game room stocked with over 1,000 board games, dart boards, pool tables, and classic arcade games.
The second floor will house and Detroit Axe, an axe-throwing arena. Here, guests can competitively throw axes down one of the 12 lanes individually or with a group.
Both floors will serve The Corner’s menu featuring upscale versions of sandwiches, shareable plates, and specialty items, including a Cornbread Skillet, Broke Chicken, and Smoked Brisket Sliders.
“We are looking forward to delivering an exceptional casual dining experience that strikes the customer as a great value,” says Kretchmer.
Siegel and Kretchmer will host a grand opening event on December 6 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. The Corner Grill, Bar, & Game Room will officially open its doors for dinner service on December 11.
