HopCat is officially back in Royal Oak! At 10 a.m. this Saturday, the renowned gastropub will reopen in the city at a new location. It’s the first time HopCat will have a location in Royal Oak since 2020 when it shuttered its previous location over a landlord dispute.

The new 11,300-sqaure-foot space at 430 S. Main St. can accommodate up to 266 guests in three indoor dining areas, two private event spaces that can be combined into one space, and 30 seats at the bar.

An additional 98 seats will become available in the warmer months as they roll up three garage doors to unveil an open-air dining space and an outdoor dog-friendly patio along Main St. and Fifth Ave.

The widely recognized menu filled with comfort food featured at its nine other locations in Michigan, Illinois and Nebraska will also be available in Royal Oak, as well as 60 taps of curated local craft beer.

The new location will also feature two kitchens: one that cooks for dine-in guests, and the other to service carry-out, third party delivery orders, and catering, which will allow for more timely service for all guests. This is the first HopCat location in company history to have a second kitchen for this purpose.

“We’re thrilled to be back in the vibrancy of Royal Oak, and we’re very excited to be a growth company again. We continue to focus on craft beer, music, good times and ‘food your mom would make if she loved craft beer’,” Ned Lidvall, the CEO of Project BarFly, the parent company of HopCat, said in a press release.

HopCat will be marking its return to Royal Oak by hosting a Grand Opening celebration that runs concurrently with its opening on Saturday. The first 100 guests in line will get free Cosmik Fries for a year, and other guests will receive special promotions throughout the day.

As part of that celebration, HopCat will raise funds in support of its charity partner, the Detroit Zoological Society. It will also participate in Royal Oak’s social district, which allows establishments to sell to-go beverages from 11 a.m.-10 p.m. every day in select areas of the city.

HopCat will open at 430 S. Main St., Royal Oak at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2023. Regular hours at this location are 10 a.m.-midnight Monday-Thursday and Sunday, and 10 a.m.-1 a.m. Friday and Saturday.
