Local Chefs Get Nod on James Beard Foundation Awards List


Detroit is well represented on the list of semi-finalists for this year’s James Beard Foundation Awards. In the best new restaurant category, Katoi got the nod. In the bar program division, Standby is in the running, and Lisa Ludwinski of Sister Pie is among the outstanding bakers. Outstanding chefs in the Great Lakes region include Andy Hollyday of Selden Standard, James Rigato of Mabel Gray, and Nick Janutol of Forest.

The contenders were chosen out of over 24,000 online entries by a panel of more than 600 judges from across the country.
