Batch Brewing Company has acquired the former Chaps Automotive building at 2841 East Grand Boulevard in Detroit’s Milwaukee Junction/North End area.
Initially slated to be the brewery’s packaging and distribution center, the facility will serve as the company’s sour beer and wild fermented cider programs’ ‘”Funk Room.”
Long-term plans for the space include adding a second taproom to serve area residents and office workers. Space will eventually be available for event rentals and community gatherings.
“We’re thrilled to grow our business here and create a community gathering place for the residents and office dwellers of the North End and New Center areas,” says Stephen Robinson, founder of Batch. “Batch Brewing Company actually got its start in the North End neighborhood at the Jam Handy complex in 2012.”
“The strong community ethic and quality product that Batch Brewing Company brings adds another great craft business to this emerging neighborhood,” says Sue Mosley, Executive Director of Midtown Detroit, Inc.
Since opening their doors in February 2015, Batch Brewing Company has gained critical acclaim for their beer, and has earned a solid community reputation for their participation in charity events and fundraising endeavors.
