Sweet Celebrations
Sweet Lorraine’s locations in Southfield and Livonia are celebrating the restaurant’s 30th anniversary with specials that will run all year. Founded by Lorraine Platman and Gary Sussman in 1984, the eateries will offer $19.84 complete dinners on Mondays and Tuesdays, followed by $2 wines by the glass on Wednesday and two entrees for $30 on Thursdays for the entire year. Meatball Seeks New Home
Motor City Meatball Kitchen is shopping for a new location. Its tucked-away spot on Hayes Road in Warren was tough enough, and then construction on 13 Mile Road made things even worse, says co-proprietor Mary Ann Gualtieri. The restaurant has applied for one of Chase’s Main Street grants and they will know in September if she and partners Jeff Glover and Ron Uhouse have gotten one of the $100,000 grants earmarked for small businesses across the country so they can find a more mainstream location.
