Cocktail Recipe: Strip and Go Naked

A refreshing tiki classic from Lost River in Detroit
3076

Lost River, a newcomer on Detroit’s east side, combines classic tiki cocktails and modern originals. Some favorites like the Strip and Go Naked, have origins dating back decades. “There’s a lot of history that goes into the drinks, and we wanted to incorporate that into the menu as close to the actual recipes we could,” says Matt Mergener, co-owner of Lost River. First crafted in 1963 by restaurateur Dean Short, this cocktail is true to the original recipe, while featuring some Detroit brands, of course.

Ingredients
3/4 ounce fresh-squeezed orange juice
1 ounce fresh-squeezed lime juice
1 ounce gin (Detroit City Distillery)
1 ounce vodka (Detroit City Distillery)
5 ounce lager beer, chilled (Stroh’s)
¼ ounce grenadine

Directions
Combine all ingredients in a shaker cup, but do not shake. Stir with ice cubes until chilled. Pour into a double old fashioned glass or tiki mug, adding more ice as necessary.
