Drink Recipe: Trouble in Paradise

1992

September is National Bourbon Heritage Month, as deemed by Congress in a 2007 resolution (really). Do your civic duty by toasting America’s native spirit with this unique drink from the Sardine Room in Plymouth. The bitter Campari, the fresh basil, and the sweet honey simple syrup pairs perfectly with bourbon.

Ingredients

1 ounce bourbon
1 ounce Campari
¾ ounce lemon juice
2 basil leaves
¾ ounce grapefruit juice
2 teaspoons of honey simple syrup
Couple grinds of black pepper

Directions

Combine all of the ingredients except for one of the basil leaves in a shaker with ice. Mix it up and pour into a tall glass. Garnish with a basil leaf. Enjoy! — Dorothy Hernandez
