CORK WINE PUB //

It was a long time coming, but the first alcohol-serving establishment in Pleasant Ridge opened in late November, and it was obvious from the start that the neighborhood had been waiting for it. The 78-seat restaurant and wine bar with an adjoining retail-wine shop got an immediate thumbs up. The chic design by proprietor Nancy Crutchfield features walls painted brick red and spring green, airy ceilings with exposed ductwork, and romantic lighting. The appealing contemporary menu, in the hands of executive chef Bree Hoptman and pastry chef Tanya Fallon, ranges from sharing plates to main plates and luscious desserts, with everything made in-house. It almost goes without saying that the wine list is equally creative, with more than 40 served by the glass. Cork Wine Pub, 23810 Woodward, Pleasant Ridge; 248-544-2675. D Tues.-Sat. $21
