HOT SPOT: PJ’S LAGER HOUSE //

The venerable Corktown hangout got a new lease on life when it was bought by PJ Ryder, who has slowly brought it back, adding live music and a kitchen to the liquid assets. On Sunday evenings, the regular menu of sandwiches and salads is set aside for a New Orleans-inspired spread, from gumbo to barbecued shrimp prepared by Ryder and served to white-clothed tables starting at 6 p.m. The musicians arrive at 8 and the music is acoustic on this occasion, if not the rest of the week.
