We’re thrilled to be here. So, let’s get rolling with an introduction. We’re Michigan wine and food enthusiasts who’ve developed a reputation over the past several years for our passion for Michigan wine. We’ve been called many things, and often hear, “Hey, aren’t you the wine ladies?” Other frequent monikers are wine chicks, wine goddesses, and Michigan ambassadors. (Let’s be honest: What woman doesn’t love being called a goddess?)
Writing two books about Michigan wine makes us either crazy or really passionate for Michigan wine country. (We’re a touch of both.) Our first book, From the Vine: Exploring Michigan Wineries, earned a Michigan Notable book award and went to reprint after only six months. Recently we released our second book, The History of Michigan Wines: 150 Years of Winemaking along the Great Lakes.
In addition to writing, we’re enthusiastic photographers. We also enjoy traveling throughout the state to share intriguing stories with groups interested in learning more about Michigan wine country and its vibrant history. (So, call us!) While we await your call, we’re steadily working on yet another book – yes, about Michigan.
It should be fairly obvious that we’re passionate for our Great Lakes state and enjoy sharing our wine and food travel experiences … whether we’ve traveled 400 miles north, attended a wine and food festival, or zipped five minutes down the road to our local market. As born and bred Michiganders who grew up in tourist communities, we avidly savor the assets of our two peninsulas on earth. And, after traveling to diverse destinations around the world and the U.S., we still believe Michigan is, without a doubt, the place to live, work, and play.
So what’s our blog all about? Here, we plan to amaze you with tidbits about Michigan’s wine history and entice you to experience more Michigan wines and to travel to culinary destinations. We hope to inspire you to “think Michigan” the next time you visit the market for wine, dine at a local restaurant, and plan a weekend getaway. So, fill your glass with Michigan wine – and give a toast to Michigan!
