Mixing Things Up with Wine-Infused Cocktails

New wine-inspired drinks are trending everywhere, and the sky’s the limit on interesting concoctions. Lucky for us, Northern Michigan’s Black Star Farms on Leelanau Peninsula is mixing things up and sharing their recipes for these popular wine cocktails.

This first recipe, to be taken quite “siriusly;” is one you won’t want to miss if maple flavor delights your palate. Though simple to make, Siriusly Maple is a stimulating cocktail infused with a counter sweetness for balanced and aromatic beverage.


Siriusly Maple

Ingredients:

  • BSF Sirius Maple Dessert Wine
  • BSF Apple Brandy (or substitute Apple Brandy with any whiskey or bourbon).

Directions: Mix an equal amount of BSF Sirius Maple Dessert Wine with BSF Apple Brandy and serve over ice.

For the next two, we’re breaking out the bubbly. Nothing is more festive than a sparkling wine, and a little dazzle in your life is perfect anytime of the year. Dazzling Raspberry is a light and fun bubbly option.


Dazzling Raspberry

Ingredients:

  • BSF Bedazzled (sparkling wine)
  • BSF Sirius Raspberry
  • 1 to 3 Raspberries (optional)

Directions: Blend equal parts of BSF Bedazzled with BSF Sirius Raspberry and add one to three raspberries, if desired.

If you prefer a little more kick in your drink, give French 75 a try. The gin in this bubbly cocktails offers the perfect contrast to the sweetness of bubbly and syrup.


French 75

Ingredients:

  • 5 ounces of BSF Bedazzled (sparkling wine)
  • 5 ounces of gin
  • 1/2 ounce of lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon of simple syrup

Directions: Blend ingredients above, pour over ice and garnish with a lemon wedge.

Well worth the effort, this next wine cocktail takes a bit more time. The result is a light and fresh beverage for easy sipping. It’s great for anytime of the year, though the back yard deck is calling for this one.


Strawberry Basil Riesling Lemonade

Ingredients:

  • 6 ounces of BSF Late Harvest Riesling
  • 4 strawberries
  • 1 teaspoon sugar (optional)
  • 1 sprig of basil
  • 1 ounce lemon juice (freshly squeezed recommended)

Directions: Blend all the ingredients excluding the Riesling and strain into a tall glass with ice. Pour the Riesling on top and garnish with a slice of strawberry and lemon.

Pouring the wine on top offsets other elements in the cocktail that brings out unique flavors with each and every sip.

Getting back to the basics, sangria is about as essential as it gets. Everyone needs a good Sangria recipe, of course, and you can’t go wrong with BSF Sangria, which is loaded with aromatic fruit flavors.


BSF Sangria

  • BSF Pinot Noir
  • BSF Cherry Apple Cider

Directions: Blend equal parts of Pinot Noir and Cherry Apple Cider. Pour over ice and serve.
