CAFE 78 ///  The industrial space at the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit (once an auto dealership) opens even before the museum itself, at 8 a.m. for an array of coffees and pastries. An all-day menu is available at 11 a.m. and includes about a dozen carefully chosen dishes, mostly salads, soups, and sandwiches, from co-proprietor/chef Marc Djozlija. The bar provides craft cocktails from the repertoire of co-proprietor Dave Kwiatkowski (they also collaborate on Wright & Co.). The space is large enough to house special events, and it occasionally doubles as a concert or performance venue. It has its own entrance on Garfield Street around the corner from the main museum entrance. 4454 Woodward Ave., Detroit, 313-784-9636. B, L, & D Tue.-Sun. $10

NOBLE PIG ///  Pulled pork and baby back ribs served here since the small spot opened three years ago have been joined by authentic Thai fare for one of the more unusual menu partnerships around. Chef/proprietor Brandon Kahlich and his Thai wife, Parinda, offer both styles with equal skill. Such dishes as cashew chicken, rice noodles with shrimp, and fresh rolls filled with vegetables and herbs offer an alternative to the meaty side of the menu. The one-room space is stylishly furnished with marble-topped pedestal tables, photographs of New Orleans, and artistic renditions of the titular pig. 19222 Mack Avenue, Grosse Pointe Farms, 313-640-4115. L & D Tues.-Sat., D Sun. $15
