COMMON PUB /// Fans of Atlas Global Bistro, which shuttered in 2013, should be happy to learn that some of the principals may be found at this spot in the Belcrest Apartments. Proprietor Paul Silveri made former Atlas chef Zach Stotz an operating partner in addition to his duties as chef. Tashunna Booker is behind the bar. Nikki Barbour, a proprietor at Atlas, and now with the College for Creative Studies, designed the simple, straightforward room. The well-edited menu includes such dishes as lamb curry, duck fat-fried Amish chicken, fish and chips, and a burger, of course. 5440 Cass Ave., Detroit; 313-285-8849; L & D Tues.-Fri., D Sat. $12

KRUSE & MUER ON WOODWARD /// The mini-chain brings the popular seafood spot to Royal Oak. The former Vinsetta Grill has been redesigned by Ron Rea. The menu includes old favorites such as Charley’s chowder, blackened mahi-mahi, and crab cakes. Newcomers include oyster sliders and oyster stew. Seating arrangements include tables in the bar on one side and booths and tables in the dining room, lit by sparkling blue crystal chandeliers. Servers in blue-and-white checked shirts are friendly and efficient under the guidance of Kruse’s sons, Casey and Alex. 28028 Woodward Ave., Royal Oak; 248-965-2101. L & D daily $16
