Classic steakhouses are getting some competition from casual spots like T-Bones, where dry-aged and prime steaks and seafood are served in an informal setting at surprisingly affordable prices. What also makes this unassuming place stand out is the quality of its accompaniments, such as lobster bisque and housemade steak sauces prepared in a from-scratch kitchen headed by former SaltWater chef Justin Schneider. The menu is short and sweet: just 10 mostly nontraditional pizzas on excellent, chewy crust, and a list of ingredients for those who prefer to build their own pie. Plus there are fresh salads from locally grown greens, pots of chili, and cheese plates and sausage to accompany the house-brewed beers and a few wines from northern Michigan. That’s it — and it’s really plenty at this friendly, unpretentious Midtown spot. The deck, with its market umbrellas and beer barrel planters, is a pleasant place to sit when weather permits. 470 W.
