Recipe: The Buzzed Monk

Kylie Christian, bartender at The Root Restaurant & Bar in White Lake, crafted the Buzzed Monk with inspiration from the Prohibition era. In her twist on the classic speakeasy cocktail Bees Knees made with gin, honey, and lemon, she combines her favorite liquor, yellow chartreuse, with smooth Valentine gin. The cocktail was the first custom creation Christian added to the drink menu at the Root, and remains one of her favorites.


Ingredients
1 ½ ounces Valentine Liberator Gin
½ ounce yellow chartreuse
¾ ounce fresh lemon juice
¾ ounce honey simple syrup

Directions
Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake well and pour through a fine mesh strainer into a chilled martini glass.
