Roadside B&G
Another winning concept for Bill Roberts, it’s a classic bar and grill with a twist. A retro theme harking back to roadhouse days adds extra flavor to the 86-seat spot (just about the same size as Roberts’ Beverly Hills Grill) with a menu that ranges from top-notch burgers, baby-back ribs, and fish and chips, to intricate seafood dishes and steaks, of course. The Ron Rea setting has expanses of window-wall, barn wood, and soft lighting with witty touches that give a nod to our car culture. The L-shaped patio outside those windows adds a lot of vitality. You won’t recognize the former Brandy’s either — outside or in.

The London Chop House
It’s back and it looks better than ever with its cellar setting beautifully restored — from the oak bar to the leather banquettes. The classic menu is in keeping with the history and setting, offering prime porterhouse, rib-eye, and New York strip steaks, and seafood dishes, such as a “mess” of perch and steamed whole Maine lobster among the choices from a new kitchen headed by Executive Chef Robert Scherer. Jazz combos are part of the scene, as they were in the old days.
