SHANGRI-LA GARDEN:

The newest of the three Shangri-La restaurants offers a diverse menu, including sushi and Chinese and Thai dishes. The sushi bar has its own spacious corner, offering makimono (rolls), nigiri (hand-pressed), and sashimi. Selections from the Thai side of the menu include especially good curry dishes, each made with a choice of chicken, pork, beef, tofu, or seafood, and there’s also an extensive list of both authentic and Americanized Chinese dishes. 27626 Middlebelt Rd., Farmington Hills; 248-474-8183. L & D daily.  $16

DETROIT SEAFOOD MARKET:

A new regime has injected life into what was briefly the Detroit Fish Market @ Paradise Valley. The high-ceilinged setting with its floor-to-ceiling windows and elegant high-backed banquettes still looks fresh, and the menu reflects the name with its lobster, crab, and seafood platters, and list of grilled and pan-seared whitefish, tilapia, tuna, and perch. A couple of steaks are offered, as well. It would have been a shame to let this handsome space, originally Intermezzo, stay vacant. 1435 Randolph, Detroit; 313-962-4180. L & D daily. $22
