THAI ORCHID CUISINE:
This serene downtown Mount Clemens spot offers the fare of Thailand served in meticulous fashion, with house-ground spices and authentic ingredients. Everything is prepared to order and served on patterned china in a room decorated, appropriately, in shades of orchid — from lavender to purple. In addition to the expected stir-fries and curries, Ray Yang and his family (who have a second location in Petoskey) offer duck and seafood dishes.

Chef Tom Keshishian presides over an eclectic menu that stretches from frittatas and scrambles to sandwiches, salads, and full-scale swordfish entrees in a simple but attractive room that seats just 62. He calls his style “twisted new American” with classic comfort food given a creative boost. One of his most-popular dishes is his re-creation of the nostalgic J.L. Hudson’s Maurice salad. The patio offers 40 additional seats.
