The Great Baraboo Brewing Company will be celebrating their 19th anniversary with a birthday bash on Friday, July 11. “Boo” beers will be priced at $3 ($2 for mug club members), and there will be special small-batch releases and giveaways.
The bands Covert Ops and Rumor Has It will be providing entertainment beginning at 6 p.m.
Brewer Jeremy Altier has been refining the recipes since he took over in 2012. “We’re a gateway into the craft beer world for a lot of people,” he says. “We’re working to brew beer that is representational of the style; we want the beer quality to speak for us instead of the extreme beer a lot of people are offering these days. You won’t find a Tequila Barrel-aged Smoked Sriracha Hot Dog Saison here.”
The current lineup of “Boo” beers include:
- King’s Peak Caraboo Wheat
- Baraboo Shandy
- Raspberry and Cherry Wheat
- Shark Tooth Bay Golden Ale
- Cady’s Corner Session IPA
- Snake Eye Canyon Red Ale
- Creamy Nut Brown
- Little Herkules Hefeweizen
One of the special beer releases that will be available during the anniversary party will be Draak Pluis Witbieraboo, a Belgian Wit flavored with bitter orange peel and both candied and fresh-grated ginger. It promises to be a light, refreshing summer beer with subtle hints of citrus and ginger that compliment the Belgian malt and spiciness of the yeast.
For full disclosure, I had the pleasure of collaborating with brewer Altier, assistant brewer Chad Benigni, and 20+-year homebrewing partner Erik Bargren to create the Draak Pluis Witbieraboo.
