Rita Sayegh, the creative mastermind behind design firm Constructure, and Lisa Spindler, photographer and owner of her namesake studio, have collaborated this holiday season to release a curated, shopable collection of luxury goods that originate from around the world. The duo’s product offer, aptly named Selection, will be available at Spindler’s private studio, previously a Lane Bryant store, in downtown Detroit and will include home fragrances from Los A-based brand Photo/Genics + Co., select jewelry pieces from Brooklyn’s K/ller Collection, and cosmetic products from Netherland’s Ellis Faas.

Although this is the first project Sayegh and Spindler have worked on together, the two have known each other for nearly 20 years. After leaving her position as creative director of Birmingham drugstore Mill’s Pharmacy + Apothecary, Sayegh was offered the opportunity to set up shop at Spindler’s space. Together, they would combine Spindler’s sophisticated, contemporary artwork and Sayegh’s assortment of refined lifestyle products ranging from $35 to $350 into one space; the end result offering shoppers an upscale experience. “Finding unique, beautifully designed products and introducing them to Detroit is the most exciting part of my job,” Sayegh says. Currently, we have a real lack of luxury retail, but a highly sophisticated population who truly appreciates great quality.”

Spindler’s decision to introduce Sayegh’s vision to her atelier was rooted in her trust of her long-time friend and business partner. “I highly respect Rita — she’s a visionary to me. She’s an amazing curator of items that are very special and I think she’s the best that I’ve ever met,” says Spindler, whose photographs have appeared on the covers of The New York Times Magazine. “When I believe in something, I try to make it happen. I’ve never done something like this before.”

Lisa Spindler Studio, 1520 Woodward Ave., Detroit; Open Nov. 15-Dec. 22.
