Following over a year of anticipation, Prada, a century-old Italian fashion house, finally opened their first Michigan location at Somerset Collection on Nov. 1.
The 4,250-square-foot store, located on the lower level of the mall near other high-end retailers, like Gucci, Christian Louboutin, and Dior, features a glamorous backlit facade with large windows, providing shoppers a glimpse into the luxurious products that have made their way to the Mitten state.
As you peruse through the store, which is designed similarly to their original location in the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II in Milan, expect to find ready-to-wear items for women and men, including tailored sets, dresses in sablè, poplin shirting, and garments designed with velvet denim and checkered wool; an array of footwear, like sling-back heels, boots, and loafers, available in different colors and prints; and different types of bags, including leopard print leather handbags and vitello leather shoulder bags.
Prada is just one of the many luxury stores to make its way to metro Detroit in the past few years. Others include Gucci, Vuori, Balenciaga, and Hermès.
