Has your smile lost its sparkle? Are you easier than ever before. Using advanced CAD/ and function just like natural teeth. Implants prevent embarrassed because you have teeth that are chipped, CAM technology, dentists can create and place bone loss, preserve your youthful facial structure, and crooked, or missing? Whether you’d like to improve your appearance, health, or relationships, or boost your confidence and professional success, a beautiful, healthy smile can be one of your greatest assets.

Metro Detroit dental professionals are enhancing smiles with treatments that are safer, quicker, and custom ceramic restorations in just one office visit. Innovative alternatives to traditional braces can turn crowded teeth into a straighter smile without the need for metal “hardware” in your mouth. For missing or damaged teeth, state-of-the-art dental implants are the gold standard, and they look, feel, improve your oral health — not to mention your overall health.

Today, there’s no reason to fear the dentist. With sedation dentistry and minimally-invasive, painless treatments, you can have the bright, new smile you’ve been dreaming of.

Q: I’m up for a promotion, and competing with a “kid” in the office. Can a new smile help me get my edge back?

A: “Imagine walking into a room and flashing a big, bright, celebrity smile. It sends an instant message: ‘I’m happy, healthy, vital, and confident,’ ” says Dr. Craig Goldin, of the award-wining Cosmetic Dentistry Institute. His wife, Dr. Marcy Goldin, an adjunct clinical professor at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry, agrees: “No matter what your dental needs are, we can create a picture-perfect smile that will leave a lasting impression.”

The Cosmetic Dentistry Institute provides an array of the most advanced technology and treatments, making the process of transforming your smile easy, quick, and pain-free.

“Luminous, natural-looking porcelain veneers are carefully crafted to change the shape, size, color, and length of teeth that are crooked, chipped, or stained,” Dr. David Whalen explains. “For a straighter smile, Invisalign clear tooth aligners provide more comfort, confidence, and convenience than traditional treatment with metal braces.”

“Whether you have one or more missing or damaged teeth, we can replace them with state-of-the-art dental implants and Teeth Tomorrow Prettau zirconia implant bridges that look, feel, and function like natural teeth and allow you to smile, chew, and speak more confidently, for a better quality of life. If you want to stop wearing or avoid full dentures that shift or slip or need to be removed for cleaning, dental implants and Prettau zirconia implant bridges can be the proven, permanent solution you’re looking for,” adds Dr. Craig Goldin, a Diplomate of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists who also has advanced training and certification in IV sedation and is a Fellow of the American Academy
of Cosmetic Dentistry. An AACD Fellowship is recognized as the highest level of competence in cosmetic dentistry, and only 65 dentists in the world have earned this distinction.

“Sedation dentistry is a wonderful and effective option for people who are busy, anxious, or who need a series of dental problems taken care of in just one visit,” Dr. Marcy Goldin says. “You can fall asleep wrapped in a blanket on a Tempur-Pedic cushion and wake up with a younger, healthier, more beautiful smile!”

Q: I’m so busy. Can I get my crowns done in one day?

A: CEREC same-day dental crowns are a quick and easy way to restore your teeth. Using advanced CEREC CAD- CAM technology, Dr. Dolores Baran can create a custom-designed full or partial crown in about an hour and place it during the same office visit.

There are no messy and uncomfortable impressions taken, and no need to wait for weeks with temporaries that may come off while your permanent crown is made in a dental lab. With CEREC, a 3-D digital picture of your tooth is used to design your restoration on the computer screen. Then, within minutes, the CEREC machine crafts a beautiful and strong
crown that looks and functions like your natural teeth.

CEREC technology also allows Dr. Baran to be conservative and preserve more of your original tooth. Save the time and hassle of traditional crown procedures. Call today to learn more about the advantages of CEREC.

Q: Are there ways to overcome the fear of going to the dentist?

A: The fear of pain associated with dental procedures keeps many people from living life to its fullest, yet it doesn’t have to be that way. With conscious sedation, dental work can be completed while the patient is sleeping. IV sedation minimizes anxiety and allows work to be performed without the patient feeling any apprehension or discomfort.

For patients with gum disease or gum recession, conscious sedation and minimally-invasive technology have had transformative effects. Using the Pinhole Technique, treating gum recession is far more comfortable and predictable than in the past. The procedure eliminates the need to cut tissue from the palate or other areas to cover receding gums. Instead, a small pinhole is made in the gum tissue above or below the receded roots of the teeth, and special instruments are used to loosen and bring healthy gum tissue over the receded tooth roots, improving the appearance of the teeth and eliminating sensitivity and discomfort. Material is then placed through the pinhole, to thicken and stabilize the tissue that’s in place. The Pinhole Technique is designed to be scalpel-free and suture-free.

Dr. Joseph R. Nemeth also performs LANAP, a laser procedure for treating gum disease that eradicates bacteria under the gums and permits new bone growth and gum reattachment. The benefits of healthier gums can reach far beyond oral hygiene — studies link gum disease to many other serious illnesses including heart disease, diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease, and certain cancers, so it’s crucial to attend to your dental health. There’s no need to fear the dentist, because conscious sedation and noninvasive procedures have made pain- free dental visits a reality.

Q: Can physical therapy help my TMJ pain?

A: When treating TMJ (temporomandibular joint syndrome), the specially trained physical therapists at Team Rehab will analyze a patient’s posture, look for dysfunctions in the patient’s neck, and examine the range of motion of the jaw to detect where the TMJ stems from and to develop an individualized program of treatment.

Physical therapy treatments may include ultrasound, moist heat, ice, stretching, and exercises that help improve posture and muscle strength. Manual therapy can be used to relax the muscles of the neck and face, and relieve any stiffness in the muscles of the jaw and neck. Physical therapists may also work on the muscle structures inside the mouth to move the temporomandibular joint out of a compressed state and into a painless state of rest.

Team Rehab therapists can ease your TMJ pain.

Q: I’m embarrassed about my missing teeth. Can dental implants help me smile again?

A: Dental implants offer a permanent and predictable solution for replacing missing, damaged, and nonrestorable teeth. Long-lasting and effective, implants look, feel, and function like beautiful, strong, natural teeth. Unlike other dental prosthetics, implants require no adhesives, clasps, or reduction of your surrounding teeth. They can anchor individual crowns, bridgework, and partial or full dentures. With an implant you don’t need to worry about your teeth moving or falling out. Implants also prevent bone loss and help to maintain a full, youthful appearance of your lips and cheeks. You’ll feel renewed confidence when you smile, chew, laugh, and speak. With good daily oral hygiene and regular checkups, dental implants can last a lifetime.

Implants are placed into the jawbone beneath the gum line and will fuse with the surrounding bone in three to six months. Prior to surgery, a CT (computed tomography) scan of the patient’s jaw is taken. Advanced computer software then translates the CT data into a three-dimensional virtual model of the patient’s oral anatomy. This state-of-the-art, computer-guided technology helps oral surgeons plan the most accurate approach to treatment, and to place implants with precision. Once the implant has integrated with the bone tissue, the treatment is completed with the restoration of choice.

The consequences of missing teeth can affect your health, appearance, and lifestyle. Choosing dental implants as a replacement for missing teeth can give you the smile you want, with the feel of natural teeth!
